Problem Installing EAC

Hi,

I have been struggling with installing EAC for most of the day and can't seem to find any answers online so far. I am probably just missing something really simple but I just can't set the drive offset.

Laptop: HP Pavilion running windows 10
External USB Drive: LiteON eBAU108 6
Exact Audio Copy version: 1.3

I got to the point of setting the drive offset.
It asks me to put a CD in the drive. I choose well known ones like Enya, Fleetwood, Clannad etc
So, it spins up and does a brief read then ejects the disc.
Pops up a message box" Please insert a disc into drive E:
So I do this again and again, 10 + times.
I figure something is wrong as it supposed to maybe do 2 or 3 so I close all the message boxes.
This reveals another message "This audio disc can be used to configure Accurate rip" yudda yudda....
"Configure Accurate Rip now?" Not, the disc is auto ejected again now.
If I close the drive, it just does another cycle, but if I press configure, another message box pops up:
"Exact Audio Copy couldn't detect a matching read command for this CD ROM drive"
"You should try to activate the auto detection of the read command in the drive options dialogue"
"If you have to select a specific read command --eg. because auto detection hangs the system -- you should make sure to select the correct one ! Just experiment with these switches and if it still does not work please report your drive configuration. OK

On the EAC form, I found EAC > Drive Options
Which lead to another form with a "Drive"tab containing various auto detect options.
Playing with these makes no difference at all.

So any ideas Please???

Ta, yes I know it should be around +6, EAC install reports this but the process seems to require it test that against playing a known disc before adjusting it automatically. Is there a manual way to set this?

I'd delete it and reinstall it to see if that helps....

I eventually set the offset manually, then ripped a CD.
Result is like extremely high volume white noise????

Some tracks have a few seconds of something vaguely like music at the beginning or end but at the beginning, it quickly clips horrendously and goes to noise. I think it's like recording at extremely high gain, so the noise is just the bits below maximum threshold. That's what it seems like but don't know for sure. What is for sure is it's not right in a big way!

I've used EAC seamlessly since install....no hitches that I remember. Sounds like something is quite off....try a reinstall?

I haven't been able to get back to this but given EACs excellent reputation over many years, I am certain the problem is my install and implementation. I found a report (about drive contention with windows 10 "helpful" default settings) that explains the issue with ejecting the disc at the wrong time. I believe this issue has interrupted the setup procedure. So yes, I will uninstall and download again from scratch when time allows. So please don't take any of this as a criticism of EAC, it's simply just a plea for assistance.

Success! The problem was indeed the drive settings. Must be, do nothing or ask me every time.
The install was then very easy, I chose the beginner option as that is what I am. Thanks for the assistance. Very pleased with the results, haven't been able to get the wav folders to stick in WMP library yet, seem to be loosing the track data that was present in the EAC grid. After much ado, finally got the WMA library sorted. WOW! Is it possible that an EAC copy is even clearer & more revealing than just playing the actual original CD??? I am stunned, even the channel separation ad sound stage seems more defined.
