I don't know if anyone can help me with this, but as my Pro-ject 1.2 turntable has it's own inbuilt pre-amp, does this mean I can plug it straight into my soundcard in order to transer my LP's on to my hard drive, or does it still need to go through my receiver?

The reason I ask is that I just ordered the turntable and am awaiting its delivery, so I just wanted to get the matter sorted out before it arrived.

Thanks......Tim

Yes, except that you will have to buy a Y cable with 2 RCA connectors on one end and a 1/8" stereo mini plug on the other end - that is assuming your sound card has 1/8" mini jacks for line-in as do the majority of sound cards.

Now what are you planning to use to do the recording? Hint: Windows Sound Recorder is the wrong answer. :)

Got it.

Thanks MDS,
That's what I needed to know. I actually already have the Y cable as I've used it to transfer home movies over to DVD.

As for the software, I think I'm fairly well covered.

Thanks again..........Tim
