Prices on blu-ray are back up?

I was going to get a Sony blu-ray player for my boss for xmas, but I'm looking at the prices and they seem higher now then they were a month ago when I got mine. I paid $200 for my Sony, now I'm seeing them back at $250+

What's the deal with that?

Should have picked it up sometime in the last 2 weeks when prices were about as low as they were going to be this year.

Well yeah, but I just thought about getting him one this morning. I don't need it to be $100, but $250 for something that I got for $200 a month ago seems stupid. I'll keep my eye for new deals I guess.

It does suck, because I was looking at the Panny BD55 and it was pretty cheap. I waited and now it is back up also.

I'm looking for either one so if I come across a good deal, I'll let you know.

Welcome to the world of dynamic pricing in the on-line electronics world:mad:
Prices are changed as often as under-wears are.:D Because they can.
Why are there 50 different prices, or there abouts, on a single flight? Same reason.

For me it just means I will now wait until they announce the pricing for the Oppo BD83 before I buy. Having BD and SACD/DVD-A in one box would make me happy, but not if it is going to be $500+.

I've been thinking about that OPPO player as well, but my "want" for things is far greater than my need. Hell, I still have my Oppo 980 hooked up and I don't really know why. I think I have 2 SACD's... though I couldn't tell you what they are or that last time I listened to them. In fact, I'm not even sure where they are or if I even still have them. I have 1 DVD-A and that's it, so I'm not really needing the capability of that new player.. or even my existing Oppo. My Sony 350 and my cd changer are all I really care about.

I have quite a few SACDs and DVD-As, so that aspect is important to me. I have a player for them already, but I will also only have one multichannel input.

The $800 for the Oppo unit (Did you really think it was going to be $399 despite what a few staff here said?) is still a bargain compared to the Denon unit.

Quite a few people with older, non-HDMI expensive pre-pros use multichannel analog switches.

Chris,

Which Sony are you hoping to get for $200? Let me know and I'll keep my eye out for it.

The 350. I have it an I like it a lot and I got mine for $200. I'm not married to getting him a Sony. The Panny would work, or even an LG or Samsung would work too. I'd like it to be $200 or less.

Thanks for the extra eyes!

There's a guy on another forum selling a BD35 for $200 shipped to the lower 48 BNIB. He is also including some offer with it for 2 free BDs, that came with the purchase and a 4G SDHC card (required for BD-Live features). I would have bought it already if I didn't need the multichannel analogs.

You can easily find a Sammy BD-P1500 for $200 if you look. Getting a BD-P25xx is another matter. Most of the $200 Sony's I've seen where the God-awful BDP-S300/301's.

I think 6ave.com still has the Panasonic BD35K blu-ray player for $222. That's with free shipping and no Tax in most states. Just a thought if you are looking to buy one soon.

Also, Sears surprisingly had them for $150 a week before black friday so keep an eye out online. Techbargains.com keeps up with the current deals at most mainstream sites.

Better than Costco's price, IMO, is this one from Amazon. Panasonic DMP-BD35 Blu-ray Player with 6 Blu-ray movies for $199 after rebate (with free shipping).
