Premium Stereo in an Apartment ::noob alert::

Hello all,
I'm trying to figure out what would be an appropriate setup for an apartment setting. I want a setup with great clarity especially for classical music (not just mozart, all genres of classical). Of course I don't need a system that cuts through the walls and disturbs my neigbors. Clarity is the main concern. Any reccomendations? If I have a powerful setup I'll be temped to blow the walls down. Just like if I have a Ferrari I'll be tempted to do 80 in a school zone...

Get something like what is in my signature, plus a pair of moderately efficient to efficient 8 ohm speakers. Go out and listen to as many speakers as you can.

2 channel setup.

Post your budget for more specific recommendations.
For your application a nice pair of bookshelf speakers with a small sub would probably work well.

Are you looking for just a stereo setup, or surround sound?

Maybe some Vandersteen 2Ce Sig II's with an integrated amp of your choosing.

Thanks for all the responses! I'm looking for a stereo setup. Surround isn't until I move into a house some day. This is strictly for music. I've been exploring some bookshelves that look like they could work. Some of the PSB Image series look to be right inmy price range. I'm looking to spend maybe 1 to 1.5k.

One combination (in theory) I came up with was a NAD C720BEE Receiver plus a pair of PSB B-15's. It seems like this would be an effective setup with a small sub... Again this is strictly for music.

With that much of a budget, I would get the SVS MTS bookshelf speakers and a nice 2 channel amp.

Dali's Ikon 1's would be a nice set of bookshelf's...the msrp is about $800 for them. I'm using them as surrounds, but have contemplated moving them upfront to see how they'd handle as mains b/c they sound really great to me.
