Hi all

I just want to create my own little corner of my house a small place i can hide and play movies and games with good sound. I have an onkyo tx-sr705 receiver, klipsch rf 82 fronts, klipsch 10inch subwoofer, klipsch rf-56 surrounds and soon to purchase my 2 surround back speakers with a 67 inch samsung dlp 1080p tv. Im starting with an empty room that is 22ft long x 15ft width and can put up a wall if i need to to make it smaller.

Any feedback would be great because im new to this whole sound thing. I just want to make sure the room size will be good for acoustics for my system.

This is a process, but before we start let's at least explore front projection. I think you can get a much more satisfying picture via a projector

1600 bucks and you can rear shelf mount it.

So for 2600 bucks you just got a 134" tv.

Now for speakers I suggest we look at a new sub before anything else. Epik makes very good low cost subs. Or if you are handy you can actually build your own.

Then I'd get rears. But if you want the rears first go ahead.

Thanks for the info but im on a tight budget right now and do plan to go to projection when the money is available. Your right it is a process so for now i just want to have a good sounding room for what i have. Curious though i play alot of video games and what ive heard with how much i play i would burn a projection bulb quick, and i hear they are expensive to replace. For sub what size should i get.

Nothing wrong with the room size. An SVS PB12-NSD would be a good start, with a second one bought later. For a bit more an Epik Sentinel.

For acoustic room planning, you'll want your main listening position about 8.5' from the front or back wall. At the farther distance from the front wall you could do a 124" screen when you're ready for a FP setup.

Could you also confirm/verify the surround model number. Klipsch has never made an RF-56.

The smallest dimension will determine the rest in a preferred room and one set of ratios is 1:1.6:2.33, which would be possible in your case if the ceiling can be 8' high. This would give you a room that's 8' x 12.8' x 18.5' and you wouldn't have any standing waves that coincide. Here's an article from Audioholics:

Don't get too hung up on perfect ratios - there aren't any. There are just some that are less bad than others. All rooms will have modal issues. All you can try to do is avoid them all being in the same place.

Personally, I'd stay with what you have. No way would I give up 2' of width and 4' of length - especially the width. Having a wider space allows a bigger screen in the future without having to shove the speakers all the way against the side wall.

It also allows more seats per row. The additional length allows multiple rows without having one row against the back wall and with less optimal surround field presentation.
