Now dare I ask what you guys think about speaker wire. Monoprice 12g vs more pricey stuff. I was actually scrolling through a local website about speaker wire and tons of ppl posted up what wire they were using and a lot of guys said thy tried many wires but so and so's wire sounded best
I have a pair of $279 (I didn't pay near that much) MIT EXP 2 with 'four articulation poles'.

You are welcome to come over any time and stone cold on my Statements pick out the MIT's vs some Belden 5000ue that cost about $12.

Bring your favorite material and in 8 rounds of random flip of the coin with me switching the cables (so single blind) you can pick a 'better sounding cable' 7 times and that 'better sounding cable' happens to be the MIT you are free to walk out the door with them.

I'm not even in the camp of telling someone they didn't hear something. I'm in the camp of simply show me. I would love to work with someone that could go from MIT to AQ to Signal to Cardas to Belden to Canare to Mogami and help me deduce the differences as we are switching up. I would 100% welcome that type of education. I do mean this in the sincerest form.

I am not going to debate that some people feel that brand A sounds better than brand B because in some cases it's probably true but the reason it is has nothing to do with different brands of cable but the following -

Replaced speaker cable that was too thin of gauge for the length of run with something more suitable in length/gauge, hence the improved sound.
Replaced speaker cable that had a defect/break in it that caused issues, hence the improved sound.
While replacing speaker cable the user made a better connection to the audio equipment/speaker then the previous one hence the improved sound.
While replacing the speaker cable user moved the speaker location enough that it's in a better listening position hence the improved sound.

All of those things can improve the sound they hear coming out of the speaker and yet really have nothing to do with the cable brand.

Some people try to change what is science into VooDoo. They come up with reasons why a sonic performance enhancement which is FAR below the threshold of human hearing is worth someone spending $1,000+ of their money to get.

Bottom line is that quality cables, no matter what that cable is or how much it cost you, is a quality cable.

Monoprice is one of the kings in this regard delivering different length power cables with IEC conenctors, speaker cable of good size gauges, and a long list of other different cables.

Their cheaper cables can be a bit weaker and may cause errors, but they're 'premium' stuff is typically under 10 bucks.

If you are on a website where people are claming a discernable sonic difference then they are either wrong, or they had issues with their old cables which the new cables corrected. Especially when it comes to power.

I've worked with a few blister pack cables which have been of very low quality and affected the image and audio, but a quick swap of $10 in cables corected the issue immediately.

Spending more than you need to on cabling just doesn't make sense.

I would upgrade speaker and power cables for the following reasons
Power - something physically is wrong with your current cable or you need a longer version then it would be worth upgrading to a longer one that is a heavier gauge. Also if you want something nicer looking or in a different color than the standard power cables.

Speaker:
Something physically is wrong with your current cables
Need a heavier gauge for longer runs
Desire to have a good looking cable with quality connectors to go along with those new speakers. Though the higher priced cables don't perform any better some of them do look nicer and can come terminated with quality connectors.
