Just my early good mood.

* What do you mean by that? How? From the preouts of the Pioneer 817 to the Main/Ins of the Behringer 4000? Why not? You'll gain quite a lot more power doing so. Do you have humongous speakers? This Behringer is 2,000 watts RMS per channel man!

** Oups! From the latest (I just download the 817 manual), sorry man, can't do.
The Pioneer VSX-817 does not have any preouts at all.

You just need another receiver that does have at least the front main ones as preouts.

What are you going to do now?
Need a recommendation for another receiver to match with your ep4000?

I recommend you visit any of the websites for Denon, Pioneer, Onkyo, or Yamaha. Look at the back of the receiver for "pre-out" or preamp out corresponding to the front LRC and surround, back speakers...There are many receivers that could potentially be recommended. Your budget will be the limiting factor here.
