Good morning & 'Welcome to the pleasure dome' (Frankie goes to Hollywood, you know, the song from the UK band, Frankie...).
Just my early good mood. :)

* What do you mean by that? How? From the preouts of the Pioneer 817 to the Main/Ins of the Behringer 4000? Why not? You'll gain quite a lot more power doing so. Do you have humongous speakers? This Behringer is 2,000 watts RMS per channel man!

** Oups! From the latest (I just download the 817 manual), sorry man, can't do.
The Pioneer VSX-817 does not have any preouts at all. :(

You just need another receiver that does have at least the front main ones as preouts.

What are you going to do now?
Need a recommendation for another receiver to match with your ep4000?

I recommend you visit any of the websites for Denon, Pioneer, Onkyo, or Yamaha. Look at the back of the receiver for "pre-out" or preamp out corresponding to the front LRC and surround, back speakers...There are many receivers that could potentially be recommended. Your budget will be the limiting factor here.
