Power AMP recommendations

I've discovered that muzishare x7 recordings have a level of soundstage that other amplifiers can't match, and that certain records have a level of power and crispness that other amps can't match. That I own is available for this price, which is quite nice for me. Despite its high power output and the advantages of tubes when driven to their maximum, this amp is susceptible to excessively high volume levels, particularly on severely compressed recordings.

IMO a Schiit Vidar might be the amp you want. Very good value. $700 for a basic 2ch amp. 100 wpc into 8 ohms and 200 wpc into 4 ohms. Excellent protection circuitry. I'v caused mine to shut down numerous times due to thermal or current overload. Just turn it off and on again and it's good to go. My speakers are maggie LRS which are somewhat difficult for an amp to drive. Impedance dips down to 2.6 ohms at certain frequencies and also they draw a LOT of current which many amps can't handle. I use a Yammy AVR as a pre. There's a good review of the amp on the ASR forum.

Hey guys!
I have a basic question... I have 5 BW AM 1 speakers in my workout room connected to a SVS SB1000 pairing with a Marantz 5013. What power amp would get for this setup? It’s not loud enough so that’s why I thought I would get a power amp. Something under $800.

thanks Greg
I’ve purchased five Rotel refurb amps/preamps off whybuynewguy on EBay. $800 for a five channel 250wpc x five….it has tremendous sound quality.

You know it’s kinda funny about amps. A speaker rated at a max power with an amp/receiver that can exceed it…….and yet…..
I picked up an extremely massive Rotel RB-1090. 385 watts @ 8 ohm, 700 wpc @ 4 ohm. Driving a pair of KEF R3 at a moderate volume. The low end was more impactful, deep. The speaker attitude changed significantly with this power source. Could be the incredible dampening factor (1000). The speaker seemed effortless in its sound. Having so much current on tap with a speaker that’s so-so efficiency made a huge difference. Making me think…
