I've had the USB 2.0 version of this Toshiba Canvio external drive in my car for over a year with no problems. I'd say look into external drives like that, but as things change, see which ones are the best value these days. I bought it last year because of good reviews and a good price, but I don't know which drive is the leader of the pack now.
