Portable non-dock speakers for traveling

I'm going to be traveling internationally for some time and am trying to find decent speakers that are practical enough to bring around and have decent full sound, given my need for a small form factor. I would love to hear people's suggestions and experiences. My requirements would be:

1. No iPod dock. This cuts out 80% of the products out there marketed as portable or ultra-portable, etc. I need something I can also use with my laptop.
2. It either has a mini jack female jack or has a cable with a mini jack on it (again, so I can use it for non-Apple inputs).
3. It can require A/C, though I'll definitely look at systems that can take batteries (I just expect them to all suck).
4. I don't need any fancy built in crap like cute control systems, remotes, bluetooth, bonjour etc. I just want reasonably good full sound out of small speakers.

The Audioengine A2 speakers look awesome (I can't post links on this forum yet, but I saw a review for them on Audioholics), but they are a little too big (6"x4"x5.25" and 3.5lb each). They seem like they're in the same league (in terms of quality small desktop speakers) as the Klipsch ProMedia speakers I've had for years (which would be perfect but are also too big). I guess I could look at anything smaller than the A2 system and see what my options are.

Budget is not a concern. I can decide what I'm willing to pay once I know what is out there. Thanks in advance!
