Looking for a cheap, but reasonable portable DVD for my wife while she travels (I use my laptop when I travel). Anyone have any suggestions or personal experience? Thanks.

Not on the cheap side really... I picked up the Archos AV-500 PVR. It is a 100GB model and I record movies directly from my player to the Archos. The Archos supports macrovision and allows this functionality. Very cool to have 20+ movies on the player that can be watched with just a few button clicks anytime, anywhere, without the need to carry discs around.

Depending on compression rate, you can store dozens of movies rather easily. As well, you can record TV shows, downloads from the web, photos, music, etc. Plus, video out lets you hook up to the TV in hotels to watch the movies there. Kind of a nifty piece. I got it because I was sick of fumbling with DVDs in the car with my son's movies. So, I have the video output tied into the car DVD player system and can start/stop resume movies in just a few clicks.

Good idea - but way beyond what she needs or is looking for. A basic DVD player (<$100) for her to use while on travel - basically allowing her to watch the DVDs that I don't want to watch from Netflix!!:D
