There were times when the tweeters in my RS3000's in my 2-channel room were too harsh even when turning down the treble on the amp. Could be because I'm not getting younger. Anyway, I added these L-pads on the tweeter circuits and it's nice to be able attenuate them now. Got them at 1/2 level at the moment and now, they are way less fatigueing. Playing Steve Taylor's great "Squint" CD rather loud at the moment. Beauty!

The Teac is a good unit for that room. Plus it has a USB port, which I use frequently. Those Infinity speakers are fabulous. 10 inch Klipsch sub on the floor. It is a great, great sounding room. Now it took a huge step up after this project. I need to get @TLS Guy to hear this system sometime. He did hear the speakers in his family room system a couple years back with a Quad amp.

Do you live close?

I used 16 gauge OFC speaker wire for the L-Pads. Soldered and heat shrink inside, silicone on the cup where I drilled and ran the wires.

Another thing I did weeks ago was move a stack of dog blankets onto a shelf in that room and also hung a blanket over the closet door. I figured every little bit helps. This was around the time I was asking about possibly rebuilding the xovers in the Infinities. I never did that btw.

Wouldn't adjusting the the treble on your Yamaha's front panel give you a similar effect? I mean, yeah, not to the same potential amount, but if you're cutting it by a huge portion, then you're talking about a fairly large amount of treble information and not a little tuning.

Or maybe I'm missing something about what you're actually doing here.

The Yamaha receiver's treble control didn't reduce it as much as I needed. It sounds very nice now. Almost emulating a vintage amp (someone will push back on this "that's impossible". Whatever! I am just saying it's better. Easier on my ears). This Yamaha was made in the 90's and has a way brighter output I think than say a 70's high-end amp.
