poly fill questions

I read in another thread that i cant find right now ....
That you should cover the poly fill you place in the box so the fibers don't end up on the back of the speaker? If this is true what do you suggest to cover it with?

I believe you are thinking of rockwool, which needs to be covered. I don't believe polyfill needs to be covered, you just stuff it in there.

It probably wouldn't hurt. Any fabric will work. I haven't covered mine though. Maybe I should.

if you're using fabric, why not just throw the whole complete pillow in there?

So Im thinking I can spray glue on the interior walls that I want to cover with the polyfill/rock wool then apply the wool, then spay glue ontop and apply like a felt cloth to cover it?

does this sound correct.

Not for rock wool.

For rock wool you would wrap insulation in a cloth and then glue the cloth to the walls.

I used 3m adhesive #77 and could have used #76 I thinks to stick my polyfill. Go to the 3m site and it lists which product to use on different materials.

I actually use 90, but that's just what I have around. I hate aerosol glue. I am trying to come up with a cleaner alternative.

You can use cheese cloth, muslin, landscape fabric, whatever. As long as it breathes well, it can be stapled to the inside of the box.

This is more important with poly fiberfill when the woofer is down-firing and persistent vibration could make it settle into the holes of the basket and come into contact with the cone.
