When do you put your xmas lights up

Do you have them up already? Do you think those who do already are crazy? Bah humbug? :) I think some of these people who put them up the day after Halloween are NUTS!

Doh, forgot to add "I'm lazy, I just leave them up all year."

I never understood why people put them up so early.

I say the earlier the better. Why wait for it to get colder? You can put them up, and leave them off you know....

I ain't putting up no lights this year:mad: Last year I lit this place up so much it looked like a runway. It ended up that everybody in the neighborhood tried to out do me (which they couldn't:D ). This year I'm going to keep them guessing.

:confused: Thanksgiving is tomorrow, Halloween was 3 1/2 weeks ago.

I'm waiting for the ads & lights to show up July 5th, give it a couple of years. :rolleyes:
 
My wife had me wiring stuff almost right after Halloween.

I'm switching to LED lights to save on power. Got about 500 so far (my first set was really pricey!), hoping to buy another 2500-4000 after the Christmas holidays when they go on sale (for next year),

Got 2 reindeers, red bows, etc....ever year we seem to add some more...

I prefer to do it early instead of freezing my n*ts off at -20 Celsius (you don't even want to know what it is in Farenheit), we already have some snowfall this week.

Is it tacky? you bet.

But my kids are young and they love it. Just watching them smile is enough reason for my wife and I to do it.

I'm going to swtich to LED this year too. Going to go look for some this weekend. My current sets are quite old...

Double wide?! well aren't we the trailer-park millionaire! Just be sure to put all the red ones inside the trailer, it makes the Hamburger Helper look all fancy when you eat it out of an empty paint can. :p
 
Did mine on Tuesday. Used the new large enclosure LEDs. If the box is to be believed, it will cost me about 46 cents to run them for 6 hours a day for 30 days...regardless it will still be a whole lot cheaper than the old style bulbs! :D

Oh, just for HookedOnSound....wonderful weather here in Calgary, it was plus 20C here on Tuesday! :p I always wait for a Chinook wind before I put up the lights...:D

If I were you, I would leave your lights up year round.

I went to visit my cousins in calgary for "spring break" only to have my eyelids freeze shut. :eek: :D
