It's all going to depend on personal taste. That said I like polks but generally need more power to drive them, which in a big area may not be the desireable thing to have unless you have the power. I myself own Klipsch and I love them and the nice thing is they are a very sensitive speaker so it doesn't take as much power to get the same volume from them as it would from say the Polks.

Again it's personal preference and I would suggest taking some of your favorite music and auditioning for yourself.

Edit: If you decide to auditon the Klipsch make sure to listen to the reference line, as they are a much better speaker than the synergy stuff.

Polk vs Klipsch

I did an A/B comparison over the following speakers hooked up to a NAD cd player and Power amplifier :-

a. Polk Rti 8 Towers
b. Polk Lsi 15 Towers
c. Klipsch Synergy F3 Towers

I heard all three and found the Rti8's to be crap while the Lsi's were much better than the Rti's, hence the price. But suprisingly what sounded to me the best were the cheaper Klipsch Synergy F3's, they were loud and dynamic, one could say maybe the polk's were a little bit more detailed as compared. I fell in love with the Klipsch's mabe its the horn sound. I think they are very HT oriented speakers. Ofcourse u should listen and it all depends on personal taste when it comes to speakers.

Hello Mailman,

I was alsmost in the same situation as you (i.e My room is about 14X12, it opens up into one bigger areas (kitchen.) My previous setup was also Polk :)

Here's my new setup :

Front : Axiom M22ti
Center : Axiom VP150
Surround : Axiom QS8
Sub : HSU STF-2
Receiver : Yamaha RXV-657

You can't go wrong with an Axiom setup, for 1875$ you can have the Epic Grand Master 350, it would be a great setup for your room. (I don't think that you need the M60ti tower.)

Hello, First of all you need to get out, and audition the speakers yourself. Bring your own music, and movies so your familiar with the material.

Is your system a 5.1, 6.1, 7.1? It all depends what you do with your system. Listen to music more, or HT more. If it was me I would look at Paradigm. I don't think you can beat the value, and sound of Paradigm. The Studio 20's are awesome for music listening and will fill the room. They would fit into your budget and they would not only meet your expectations, they would exceed them. You could go 20's all around, or use Mini Monitors for the rears. I would atleast have 3 Studio 20's for the fronts.
Do you need a sub? I would recommend SVS Subwoofers.
