Polk Speaker Question

Hello everyone, this is my first post on audioholics as I am seeking a little advice. I have the opportunity to buy the following set of polk speakers for $750, I would like to know what you think.

Polk CS2: Center
Polk Monitor 70's: Fronts
Polk Monitor 50's: Rear

What are your impressions of Polk speakers? Are they good quality for the price? Any other imressions you can think of would be very helpful.
I will need to upgrade my receiver but that is not a problem.

Some people really like Polks, while other people prefer different brands. Have you had a chance to listen to them? If so, what do you think?

Where were you going to purchase those? $750 is a bit on the high side for those. I didn't shop around, but I know those Monitors go on sale fairly often, and you can get all five of those for $620 total from Newegg at the moment. The Monitor 70s are $160/each, the Monitor 50s are $90/each, and the CS2 is $120 at Newegg, all with free shipping. Another option is the Polk Store on eBay. My friend recently purchased two sets of "refurbished" Polks from them, and he said that they looked brand new.

I gotta agree with Adam here: if you go wit that configuration - you definitely should shop at newegg.com With that said, if you do go 70's for the front, you'll also want to get a sub that can handle the LFE and lows, becuz the 70's are a full-range and you don't want a less-competent sub competing with the 70's.

With that said, I'm a big advocate of Polks - excellent Bang for the Buck!

I have heard this one on many times and will say it is decent for ht. Even with music, it is not bad. For the money it will be hard to beat. Anyways, good luck in your decision.

I am not a fan of the Polk Monitor series. And before I spent $750 on them. I would research purchasing some pre-owned, or sale priced LSi9's, LSi7's, and LSiC. You should be able to score them for around $1000.

The sound quality difference is well worth the difference in cost. JMO

Picked up RTiA5's cherry for $219 ea new at Fry's. Also got a CSiA6 center for $119. Super super deal and now hard to find. Polk is discontinuing cherry I believe. Listened to the speakers comparing HK 2600 and 3600 models. Sounded really good with 3600......probably because of the extra amp power. You can visit polkaudio.com for lots of good info.
