After the RM6800 for $399 debate I'm curious how people will respond to this deal. I'm my opinion the sats are better than Bose micro-cubes (what isn't?), and are a good entry level for the price deal. However the bundled subwoofer is way too under powered for anything bigger than a small bedroom/dorm room.

Minispeakers are a bad idea. Just dont do it... Take it from people who know, they just dont sound good... You will be very unhappy.

The problem is physics, and you just cant minipulate thoose rules.

That depends on what you are expecting. For most of us who use this site, you are right. But for someone who is used to TV speakers, the Polk will be fantastic. And at $200, you are getting a whole system for the price of the subwoofer alone. A great starter system IMHO.

BTW: On the various sites I have visited, the RM6750 gets good user reviews, so many people are happy with it, even though most of them paid probably double the price you are looking at.

Im afraid if your looking for discount speaker advice, that you probably are on the wrong forums. I personally dont have anything to reference the speakers with except for the horrible sound experiances I have to undergo when I am near any LCD in any big store.

The only other reference I have is audio magazines and reviews found with google. Both of which are not very reliable. The last source of information I have with this low priced systems is consumers reports, which I hate to admit it, I would rely on their advice for any 5.1 SYSTEM that costs less then $1000.

Mike.

Well, at least at that price, that is about what they're worth.... I agree with Totoro though, it really depends on what your expectations are. Compared to nothing, they will be great, but for enthusiasts, they probably won't cut the mustard. The sub is really not much of a sub, but you expect that already (I've owned the previous version of it). In a small room with small speakers, it adds enough to fill in the lower midbass, but it definitely does not provide any decent depth or oomph.

I might add that you are probably right about the satellite speakers being better than Bose Acoustimass (almost anything is). I am not sure about the subwoofer though.
