Polk monitor 70s front and side?

Would it be alright to use these for the front left and right and for the side surround? I have a onkyo 515 used as 5.1 and mainly watch movies currently looking for new house so cant guess at room size. Thanks!

Could you? Absolutely. I think using something like the 70's for surrounds would be overkill -- that's an awful lot of speaker for sound effects -- but there's certainly nothing wrong with having more then you need. My only question would be what center are you using? The front 3 channels really need to be matched.

They extend to a -3dB of 40Hz, so you would be able to set your blend to your sub with a lower x-over, say maybe 60Hz instead of 80Hz. Should work fine. With no sub, just set them large and they should do OK too.
