Polk Audio RM30 vs ProCinema 80

On the fence...I demo'd both, one at Tweeter and the other at Best Buy.. does anyone have an opinion between the two as well as a Receiver in the 400 -500 range. I have a number of Best buy bucks and they carry the Definitive Technology ProCinema line or perhaps I could use the gift cards on the receiver, either sub combo I think would be ok in my room size ..again any comments/experience with the two would be greatly appreciated.

Usage: Primarily action type movies .. some music in this room from time to time
Room is roughly 12x20, 46" Samsung DLP

Note meant to have ProCinema 80 in the thread title.....

Actually one last question, Floor model discounts are they something to steer clear off .. A Receiver that has been out for a year or so ..used for demo's .. two in particular at tweeter.

Yamaha RXV2500 for 500
Denon AVR2106 for around 500 as well

The Procinemas leave a lot to be desired IMO. The Polks are OK actually, but few satellite speakers of this type are real contenders and will be a waste with the receives you're looking at. Are you talking the whole package or just the speakers? The problem with the Polks is their subs suck.

Floor models carry the full manufacturer's warranty, so you should have nothing to worry about with them.

I would use the gift cards towards a receiver and look around for some better speakers.

Package Sub

I was looking at the packages.. the Polks everywhere seem to have a deal basically get $200 credit. towards a sub or for free at the lower end Polk Audio RM10 5-Pack (PSW10) ..but as you stated... wasn't that impressed with the sound. Not sure what sub the RM20's come with .. the ProCinema 80 did seem to have a decent pwr'd sub, but again it was running on a really nice receiver and I only listened to it for 10 minutes or so.

Hi. Listen to the new ProCinema 800s. They are significantly better than the 80s they replace, and cost the same. If you like the Def Tech sound and you can spring for a few dollars more, look at the 1000s. You won't be disappointed.
Cheers.
