Pls HELP. Can't get SW to work on SONY STR-DH7700, I think LFE output is dead.

As stated above, i've had a Sony STR-DH7700 receiver for a little over a year now. I have it hooked up to 5 small pioneer speakers (3/2.1) left over from a htib, and used to have a Sony SA-SW2500 powered sub hooked up also. I never had any issues until maybe a month ago, the sub stopped working. I thought the problem was the sub so I bought another one, a Pioneer SW-8MK2. I hooked it Up through LFE and nothing. I tried it out with another device and the sub works Fine. I allready tried fooling around with the receiver settings and everything looks Fine. Please help, is there a chance that the LFE output doesn't work even though every other output works Fine? Thanks.

Sure, the LFE output circuit could have a failure. Did you try resetting the avr, either a soft reset (just unplugging it for a while) or a microprocessor/factory reset (if available, check your manual)?

Thanks for the reply. I did a hard reset (pressing power button for 5 seconds until "CLEARED" appears on the receiver's screen) and it's still the same. No apparent LFE signal. Any other ideas?

Can't think of much aside from having someone look at it, just to make sure subwoofer is "on" in the settings, speakers set to small etc....the usual things....

I think I'll take it to a service center to have it checked. Thanks for your help.

You could always set your speakers to large, no sub, then run the output from one of the front channel output. Most receivers have outs for all channels. That would put the LFE signal back in the fronts.
