I also just went with the X4000. From recommendations from another board I ended up going with the Primus 363's for fronts, Primus PC 351 center, and Primus P163's for the rears. Just figured I would send over the information I took from another board.

But the truth is, everyone has his own preference. Just because I recommend RBH doesn't mean RBH is the best. Just because some people recommend KEF, Revel, B&W, Ascend, Salk, Philharmonic, PSB, etc., does not mean those speakers are the best. It's just people's preferences.

So buy based on your own preference (by audition). Use the reviews as a guide to audition speakers. .
I definitely agree that "the ears have it"... so speaker selection, after auditions, still boils down to personal preference.

Parkaash,

The VTL rack that was suggested works very well as I just purchased one for myself a short while ago.

I see that you are in the Chicagoland area. I would suggest going to a few places to demo if you have the time. If you are in the suburbs, please check out my dealer, Deluxe Audio & Video in Naperville IL.

I have been buying from the owner for 12+ years and have always been taken care of. I am a huge fan of GoldenEar, obviously :), but he does carry other brands. I just referred a user on these forums who got a nice deal on his GE Triton 2/Aon2/SupercenterXL setup.
(suggest demo'ing the Triton 7s if you have time)

Other Places to check out:

Saturday Audio Exchange: Saturday Audio

Has a pretty diverse setup and carries a lot of different brands (Klipsch / KEF / PSB / Monitor Audio)
- Has limited store hours
Thanks for the recommendations, Cos! I will definitely check out your dealer.

I've called SAE but can't seem to arrange a time yet...

You are fortunate to have multiple places to actually listen to various speaker brands. It is one of the few, (maybe the only), things attractive to me about living in or near Chicago... or any big city. :)
Yep, sooo many places to visit actually... I'm racking up mileage on trying to audition speakers! :D

I like hearing gunshots and knowing it's just a trusted "neighbor" shooting dove or squirrels or clays or targets.
Have heard gunshots only twice where I live; and I'm not in in any of Chicago's more affluent hoods. In fact, the area where I am has a lot of food deserts.

Cos, I've set up an appointment with Bob for Saturday. I'm actually excited to hear the Tritons.

That was fast! :D But thanks for the referral, too!

The 2's were the best sounding speakers I listened to in the price range I was willing to consider. That I got a good deal from Bob also helped a lot, and netted me the XL center.
