Please recommend good speakers for the AVR 247

I get it now. HT subs need to go lower and louder than most anything that music would require. I knew that from before but needed the reminder. Thanks.

Oops I'm $99 over budget. But with shipping cost it will be almost the same out of pocket.

TLS guy had a recent and interesting post about where most of the pipe organ's energy lies. Higher than you would think.

WmAx recently was talking about how much more low end energy an HT typically requires.

I probably have as big of a classical collection as anyone here. Maybe not the biggest, but I got a lot. I think I actually could be pretty happy listening to them on a fine pair of bookshelves, even without full range reproduction. OTOH, I would be mega-bummed if I didn't have full-range capability in the HT.

My PSB Images can REALLY crank for HT. I still wish they had better off axis. FWIW.

That makes sense... I know i feel a good bit of pressure in my chest from snare drums hit with soft beaters. However, I've only heard wall rattling with synthetic bass from hip-hop and LFE with movies/TV shows. I know quite a few movies (and TV shows!) have lots of LFE. I was somewhat amazed by all the rumbling during The Eye Blu-Ray on just my current stereo Infinity P362 set-up (crossed over to nothing at 40Hz).

So, you guys are saying that the OP can't find within a $2k budget a setup that is good for both movies and music?

Not at all. I have my system built around PSB Image Series, T45 towers for my mains, 8c center channel and 1B surrounds and a subsonic 5 subwoofer.
For music, I run my towers full range and they sound awesome. Only time I add the sub for music is for works that include pipe organ.

In HT mode, I run the towers as small and let the sub crank the bass.

Works very well for me.
