Great picture, and that's just with playing Ninja Gaiden II in 1080p. I moved my other Panny plasma up to the bedroom. There is a noticable difference between 1080i and 1080p. I thought at first that I wouldn't be able to tell, but I can. How sweet it is. I can just imagine how blu-rays will look on this thing.
The speakers actually sound REALLY good, even though I probably wont ever use them that much. Did I mention that this thing looks friggin' sweet?

I do need some calibration software to get optimum PQ.
Enjoy:)

The Pioneer Elite KURO series is the best HDTV (Plasma or otherwise) without a doubt. Panasonic would be the second choice. However, steer very clear of the LG unit if you are interested in the highest quality setup. The Pioneer Elite will cost more, but hands down you will see the difference.

A lil calibration info

I bought the DVE calibration (standard)DVD to get my picture right on the new panel. I didn't get the Blu-Ray version as I don't have blu-ray, but the DVD didn't really work well. I could not for the life of me get the grey scale right (could not see the blacker than black bars at all). The blue, red, and green filter that comes in the box faired much better. I was able to get the patterns to match. The contrast and sharpness adjustments did absolutely nothing, the test pattern looked exactly the same with the setting turned all the way up or down. I have it hooked up to a 360 via HDMI and the DVD states that some players may have limitations and may be unable to display the needed content.

Has anyone had success using just the DVD for calibration or should I just go ahead and shell out the $150 for the Eye-one or Spyder 2 calibration kit? I had a thought also to change the input from HDMI to component and see if that makes a difference in some of the test patterns (worth a try but
probably wont work) I'm currently doing my 100 hour break-in

Well, you should shell out $150 for the Eye-one if you can afford it. Do NOT get the Spyder if you can help it. It has issues with proper greyscale. The DVE disc reportedly has inaccurate audio setup. (Something about the LFE being too hot.) The Avia disc reportedly has inaccurate greyscale. Sigh... I have both discs. Congrats on your purchase. I did a half sighted calibration by eye with the HD DVD of DVE. Most people will correctly tell you that you need a colorimeter to get proper greyscale calibration. BTW, you don't need DVE. You can also use the free AVS 709 disc. Do you have the HD DVD add-on for your 360? If so, you're golden. You can burn the 3x DVD ISO on a regular DVD writer and play the HD patterns on your 360.
