Hello. I am not new to audio systems in cars but I am in installing them and what not. so I payed circuit city a lot of money to drilll pull and place. so I payed them that and to save money Id think id go to wally world to get a stero...the dual one with motorized face plate..I like it so far. so I did my first car stero installation for 2 1/2 hours in walmarts parking lot .

heres the question. I am not sure what ampage or how you rate amps as there are different channels you can do at different ohms. but i know my amp is a performance teknique and it says 600w x 600w on it. My stero works great. I just need my amp to turn on. The guy that installed it didnt tell me anything about how to get it ready. He had a girl in there he was trying to impress so he was complaining a lot...probably because im 20 and im not a real person..idk lol anyways id like to fix this remote turn on problem. theres 1 blue wire from amp that i know is called the REM or remote turn on. That wire is linked to my stereos blue wire.. I thought this would solve the problem.. but I think all the fuses are good.. there is a 60 fuse in the amp itself that I cant get out for some reason. and then there is one on the line from battery to amp. sorry i mmade this to long.. If I cant get help Ill call someone tommorrow

Sorry. I'd be happy to help, but I know less about car systems than you do. Good luck with that.

There maybe a setting on the HU that needs to be enabled. Go to Auto zone and buy a $4.99 test light. Ground 1 end and touch the red post on the amp, does it light up? With the HU on touch the blue post, does it light up? If I had to guess having a 60A fuse would be the same as having no fuse at all I think your wires would melt before the fuse popped.

I was at Frys last night buying some stuff for my biamp project and walked through the car audio section on the way to check out. There was a bunch of 60 amp fuses there. I think these care amps really draw the juice....

As for that........geez kid, this is a home theatre/stereo site. I can't say that I have ever seen a thread on car audio..........

They appear to draw alot of juice because its at 12v vs 120v. Lets take an amplifier that draws 500 watts for example. At 120v thats 4.167 amps.

At 12v thats gone up significantly to 41.67 amps.

Current (I) = Power (wattage, P) divided by Volts (E,V)

Interesting. I use to run 30 or 40 amp (Green) fuses in my car and the advertised Wattage of the amp was 1000. Maybe since it wasnt constant draw at 1k Watts they didnt blow.
