Well mulester....

Actually...Door 3...I mail it back to the dot-com spend my nickle...and they refund my money...so I'm left at home with a new set of speakers and no amp to push them and out about 40 or so just paid in shipping costs....
really feeling sorry for myself, because I had a good thing and now its gone. Hookedontronics dosn't have any products that they can replace their damaged one with so they will give me my money back. I can order something else from them...but for the original price it sure wont' be as nice...

So in the end looks like UPS makes the money...from both them and yours truly!!

Question: If ~300 is all I can afford right now, do I tell myself..."well you ALMOST got a great reciever in the Denon AVR-883, and luck wasn't on your side, so instead you lost 40"...and so now just be satisfied in picking up something a little less classy(i think) like a Sony STR-DE898 which I can get for about the same price??

.....SJSamuel, I recognize your void at this time, but you have no choice but to finish the course, and try to not get in too much of a rush for a replacement....figure out what you can go absolute-tops on a receiver, and let the guys here help you look among reputable outlets....are you sending back a 5.1 receiver, or a 7.1?....what kind of speakers do you have, how many do you have, and what are the model numbers?.....

.....SJSamuel, here's a Denon 6.1 a cut above what you had, at least by model number....yes, it's a refurb, I know you've just been burned, but you could call them and ask what was wrong, and ask if it's, FOR SURE, been fixed, and this place is BizRated.....

.....or, you can shop for a new one in an unbroken box for probably about 650 not including shpg....I would wear them out over the phone to assure me the deficiency, whatever it was, had been fixed.....

sorry not have replies so soon but got tied up...anyway, thanks for the advice I actually looked around and was able to find a Denon AVR-785S/1905 for $300ish shipped and with an extended REPLACEMENT warranty for 1 year....so I figured this is about as good as its going to get..this is a step up from my AVR-883 so I'm happy...Thanks for the suggestion on the AVR-885...I just decided that a notch down from that will be just fine...I also purchased it from another denon authorized dealer...www.onsale.com...and so this way if something goes wrong I have Denon to back me up...Thanks for all your help...
