Folks,

Is it possible to stream audio from a FIOS music channel directly from the Motorola QIP6200/QIP64xx HD DVR STB to my Yamaha RX-V659 without turning my TV on? My wife loves playing the music stations, sometimes all day, and I'm starting to see signs of ghosting in the upper left hand corner of TV.

Presently I have the STB going directly to the DTV connections on my TV, so I'm thinking I can use the digital output on the STB to the digital input to the Yammy, but will I get the audio without turning the TV on?

I hope I'm being clear.

It's a real pain to make changes to my set up because of the type of entertainment center everything is housed in, otherwise I would just give it a try.

Thanks to all who answer.

Yes you will be fine, I do this too..........I go toslink to a monitor and digital coax into a processor for this same reason, you can even go RCA stereo out if for music you dont need surround and such. Sometimes good old 2 channel is best for music if speakers are not those tiny cubes with no bass.

You should only have to have the TV on long enough to pick a channel.

I your box has the basic red/white analog audio outputs, eed them directly to your receiver. The music channels are only stereo.

Or do what I do and set the music channels up as your favorites then you only have to scroll through to get the channel you wish. I do country, 70,80,90's, rock, metal and all on favs and single button cycles through them without the need for tv on.

You'd still have to turn the tv on to select the proper channel innit ?
