Planning to upgrade from Rega RP1 to Rega Planar 3

Currently I own a Rega RP1 which I fitted with a Tango subplatter and a performance pack from Rega; I'm pretty happy with it, but now I'm thinking in going to a Planar 3 and I wonder if it will be worth the extra money I'll have to put in.
After reading several post I'm not sure if I should buy it with the Elys 2 cart or should I look something else. Also I would like to keep the Tango subplatter, does it fit in the Planar 3?
All comments are more than welcome.
The rest of my gear: Marantz PM7005, Marantz CD6005, Carver TFM-6CB, Ascend Sierra 2 speakers, SVS SB1000 sub., Definity speakers.

You have to decide just why you want an audio item that was state-of-the-art in the 1960s. If you want only to play LPs, fine, but remember there are those with other reasons:

Actually probably state of the art into the early 80s but a good reel to reel system was better if you could afford it. Still for someone with a lot of LPs it might be worth upgrading. Just my own opinion as I do own a lot of LPs (and CDs) played through a decent but modest 2 channel system. Back to the question I have a Planar 3 and I am quite happy with it even with a high quality conical cartridge which plays my mostly used LPs pretty well. And I wouldn't buy a REGA cart because you cant replace the stylus when it wears out. Anyway once again JMHO. BTW love the cartoon.
