Placement Suggestions for Cube Speakers

I am glad you do; I know several people who have them and love them.

I love my Bose speakers. I am running an Acoustimass 7 and two Acoustimass 5's with a Klipsch sub-woofer. This is in a family room where my wife would never stand for the large, ugly speakers that most of you seem to like.

I find Orbs or Gallo's more attractive and classier than the cubes. There are several companies making small speakers. Also, Magnepan has speakers that are big, but completely flat and pretty high on the WAF.

Really? I either don't have the ears or training to do that or I've not had the good fortune to run across a set of speakers that is that "detailed" or I'm simply not paying attention.
Do you know anybody who plays an acoustic instrument ?
If you do, sit down with them and have them play some music for you for about 20-30 minutes. Listen very carefully when they play. Acoustic guitar, piano (preferably professionally tuned), OR better yet, a real good drum set would be perfect. Then, go to a BBuy or CCity. You obviously won't be able to listen to the same music played for you at a Best Buy through some Bose cube speakers, but if you can find some similar music that they (BB) would be willing to play for you through that Bose cube system, as close as possible in loudness to what you heard live, THEN, you'll see just how poor the Bose cubes are at reproducing sound. As a matter of fact, there are many speakers out there on the market that, if you repeat the above , will leave you with the same impression. It's just that the various Bose systems out there have a very low "bang for the buck" quotient.

When I saw the title of this, I was expecting to see a picture of a dumpster filled with cubes.

There is an upside to owning Bose speakers. They do have a good resale value so it's possible to sell them for good money and in turn buy higher-quality stuff so at least the trap isn't permanent.

I use mine to watch movies. I listen to music in the car.

Sonus faber speakers are ugly?! ;)

Try Morel SoundSpot's; small and cute. :D

Ever heard of Gallo Acoustics? They cost similar to Bose and outperform them by a long shot.

I was thinking more along the lines of a full 5.1 surround sound placement around the toilet bowl. This arrangement would take full advantage of my own personal bass enhancement, the "Accousti-A$$ Extreme Bass Module".

Nothing like being able to fully enjoy your entertainment while taking a BM. :D

I agree about the dumpster full of cubes.... too funny.

What scared the crap out of me though - is that in our upstairs system... used mostly for tv watching, the setup illistrated is close to what we have done. Except the subwoofer is placed behind the cabinet - it is all positioned in a corner..

It works fine for the kids watching Cartoon Network or the occasional movie or some back ground music. The cubes"HTIB" system used here is a JBL system - the cubes are two way systems with small midrange and a tweeter..
The subwoofer is an 8 inch with 150 amp. I think I paid a few hundred bucks for it all... And ya - the bass is not like that of better systems (svs/hsu/etc)

I wondered if this thread was a trap to identify all BOSE users on the forum..???

Now I feel I armed and ready to propose to the W (of WAF) that maybe it is tiime to by the av123 XL-S system and spare our childrens ears any more abuse.. and I also have some helpful convincing information... I suppose though it might be suggested to me that I should see if the coil springs improve the situation... Does anyone have a part number for these?? ;)

I think it would be easier to just duct tape all 5 cubes together in a horizonal array and make it a large center channel surround speaker, like that Yamaha thing... although it sounds better :D :D :D
Then place the duct tape arrangement (which will make your ears bleed) on top of your TV and watch as the colors improve your experience. Then take more acid :D :D :D
