Just got my copy today. I did see it over the Summer, but I'm pretty pumped to have it on BD. Should be good.

I thought we had a thread on Up, but apparently we either don't or searching for it will be impossible. Search said "UP" is too common to search for :) Ordering of it has been talked about in the Monster's Inc thread. Mine should be there when I get home tonight.

Yeah, I tried to look for it too, but couldn't seem to find it. I'm watching now. Man, the T-storm is great (really shook the house).

Noticed Toy Story 3 will be out next June. That's pretty cool.

Yeah, there was a teaser blip on one of the other Pixar discs, but this was the first "teaser trailer" I've seen for it.

The storm was great, but there was one other scene that had as much or more LFE in it, but I can't remember off the top of my head what it was. All I know is, I rewound it and listened to it a few times :D It was later in the movie. The DTS-HD track is awesome, period. The surround activity was great.

The story wasn't the strongest, though it did have a bit more feeling that seemed to be missing from Wall-E IMHO. I would put this one pretty high up on my list of favorites from Pixar. The video quality is damn well near perfect, as expected.

I'd call this one a MUST SEE.

PQ/SQ are great. As for the LFE scenes, I just thought the T-Storm was quite cool. Later in the movie there's a bunch of strong LFE too. When the Muntz comes for Kevin in the dirigible really shook my house. One of the better Pixar movies for sure. I rate it fourth after The Incredibles, Monster's Inc, and finding Finding Nemo (maybe tied for third).

OK, one great scene with super LFE is near the end when Carl and the kid are running from Muntz's dogs knocking over the rock slabs. WOW...

I thought Monsters Inc looked really great.

This looked even better!

I forgot about the decent number of dark scenes in this movie, as a side note.

Very fun movie, yet with some mature themes, and a nice helping of wackiness. :D

Watched this last night with my son and daughter in law, on Bluray, it was spectacular looking and sounding. Great movie. Got 2 families coming tonight, and 2 more families tomorrow night to for a showing. Should have it pretty well memorized in a few days. :)

I would prefer animated movies to be in 16x9, I like my HD stuff to take up the whole screen. I know you see more when it's a wider aspect ratio, I just dislike the black bars.

Agreed. I'm pro 16:9 until I have a PJ setup with an anamorphic lens. :D

Why is it a lot of the Pixar movies default to DD. Drives me nuts.

What do you mean? Mine was defaulted to dts-HD. I think it would have been nice to have an uncompressed PCM track too :D

Just got done watching this film on dvd. All I can say is wow! There certainly has been some great advances with respect to animation. I am amazed at what they can do now. The story-line was good, but the audio effects were spot on. The video at times was so darn good I forgot that this film was animated. :D:p:D As such, I am easily giving this film a solid B+ and I am being quite conservative to say the least. ;):eek:;)

Cheers,

Phil

I watched it on dvd. I can certainly see why it was rated so highly. I am still amazed. Sure hope they make a Part II! ;):);)
