I picked up the blu-ray version at wally world today on an impulse buy. Amazon gives the release date as Nov. 6th 2007, but this is first time I have seen this collection. It was a tad short for the $25 price tag, but seeing the evolution of computer animation over the years was very interesting. Image quality was very good as you would expect from Pixar, even the older short films from the early 80's looked quite nice. A few of the them also had pretty good LFE, better than I was expecting. I turned down my sub as it was getting late, didn't want to wake the neighbors. I will rewatch some of them tomorrow at a reasonable hour when I can crank the sub :D It's worth checking out if you are into animated shorts. There wasn't much bonus footage, but what was there is worth watching to see what goes into making these films.

Thanks for the recommendation! I would love to see Pixar shorts over time - I'll check this out.

I wish it would have been longer too, but I enjoyed all of those. Some of the best, most honest films they've done. I saw a few of those when they were in the theaters in Spike & Mike's animation festivals (showing age...). They have such character that it really draws you in and makes you feel something - I attribute that to the fact that these people had FUN doing them :)

Pixar is just about 30 min from my house and I haven't been there.... My buddy lives about a block away and you can see their facility from his roof (loft). I should stop by there sometime :)

There are at least 3 or 4 short easter eggs on there as well (from High Def Digest):

Easter Eggs

Instead of pressing left and right in the selection menu, try pressing up when you highlight each individual short. There you'll find three icons and three quick bonuses -- a wireframe animatic of the "Luxo Jr" short, a look at various movement techniques developed by Pixar, and a lighting demo. Then access the Subtitles menu, press up on your remote, and click on the icon that appears. You'll be treated to a 1986 short by Eben Ostby called "Beach Chair."

^ Absolutely, it is a super cool one. :)

I also love the two troubadour musicians with the little girl.

And what's fun with this disc too, is that the music is very good.

Gerri's Game and Lifted are my favorite newer ones on there, but the best is still Knick Knack (snow globe) for me.
