My receiver was hit by a surge which caused a power up problem. The receiver will come on for about 10 seconds then shut down. The display will read "Power On", then attempt to power up again, then shut down and repeat the sequence over and over.

If anyone has experienced this problem, or has any knowledge on case histories. I would greatly appreciate it. I have since purchased better surge protection for future use.

Thanks,

Hi, e1000, and welcome to the forum! I'm really sorry to read about your Pioneer. Bummer if you can't get it to work again.

Have you tried resetting it? One thing that you can try is to leave it unplugged for a while and then plug it back in. You can start with about 30 seconds, and if that doesn't work (or the following doesn't), then try leaving it unplugged overnight.

You can also try doing a reset using the front panel, but that might not work if you can't get it to power on long enough. It's described on page 69 of the owner's manual. Try holding down the "Enter" button when turning the power on. The manual describes switching certain settings before doing the reset, but given your current issue and likely inability to get into the menu, I'd just try holding down the "Enter" button when turning it on. If the front panel displays "Reset <NO>", let go of "Enter" and hit the "Preset" button to toggle that to "YES" and then hit "Enter" again.

Seriously, I have no life.
Might have launched a regulator (possibly more than one). You could call one of the regional service centers and ask if they have seen that symptom or, you could google it- I have done that by typing a symptom in the search bar and found good, accurate answers to several problems.
