Pioneer VSX-1023-K Zone 2 / Speakers B flat out won't work

I am so frustrated right now. I just purchased this receiver to replace an older Yamaha. I purchased it as a friend has an older Pioneer that drives a surround system plus 2 out door speakers independently. I can read, I can do research, and I have much electrical engineering training why is this so difficult?

On the pages of the downloaded manual, I find the differences between Zone 2and Speakers B ambiguous. Nevertheless I've tried almost every possible combination of digital and analog input to Speakers B and Zone 2. Yes, I've tried the tuner. I cannot get this to work and the Pioneer Support line is constant busy signal.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Check your multi source multi zone settings in the setup menu. Zone 2 will need to be feed analog signals, so if you have a digital source in the main zone feed analog also.
