Pioneer VSX 1021k - Video Issues

I recently purchased the VSX 1021k. I am in the initial stage of setting up my home theater, but appear to be having an issue with the video feed. I utilize Direct TV and have the Direct TV connected to the VSX via HDMI, which is connected to a Samsung DLP. When switching between channels, there is a noticeable pause, then a green screen. Often the signal will scramble and the only fix is to change to another channel, then back.

I have asked around and heard various answers...everything from speed and quality of my HDMI cables (I bought a cheap set, then upgraded to 10.2 Gbps), to a possible issue with the receiver itself.

I have read many posts hear over the years and would appreciate any help.

Thanks.

What Direct TV device are you using and what iteration.

Direct TV devices are not HDCP certified and so you can have problems like this.

Vsx 1021k video issue

Thanks for responding.

I am utilizing direct tv hd dvr model HR21-700. Manufactured 7/2008. To further explain, I do get audio and video, it is simply a delay and green screen almost every time a channel change occurs. You mention that direct tv boxes are not hdcp compliant. Is this true for all boxes? If I get a newer version is this a potential fix?

I did try and resolve the problem by connecting component cables with an optical for audio, but I experienced the same issue, thus I have some concern that it may be the receiver that is the culprit.

Any additional thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. I have waited some time before purchasing this receiver and hate to think that i may have to go another route.

Thanks again.

May be that is the way those receivers are.

I would update your Direct TV HD DVR.
