Pioneer's website says the Elite does have 2nd zone and a 2 year warranty. Around where I live, all I have is Best Buy and Cicuit City. I know I can order online, but I don't like doing that. I just feel better having an actual store to go to if there's any problems, and if I need to return it for any reason, I can easily with no shipping or problems. Best Buy nor Circuit City doesn't have the Elite, they have the 1015 for $474.99 when you buy speakers from them at the same time, which I might be doing. Without buying the speakers from them, it's a little over $500.
1) You are spending too much of your budget on the receiver.
2) More of the money needs to go to the speakers. MOST OF THE MONEY.
3) You may be mislead. Most of the websites members link are actual stores. Not only are they actual stores, you can call them for support, and actually talk to someone who knows something other than how to pop a zit. Also, if you buy smart, most are authorized to sell the products they offer. All of my equipment was purchased online from several places.

Bluejeanscable
Amazon (AR cable)
Ebay (AR cable)

I took a risk on my Yamaha products from the gray market. No warranty. I have had no problems, but wouldn't recommend it.

If you can, find a friend or someone you know that works at Best Buy. The employee discount will take the price on the 1015TX down to under $333.
Do they have military discounts???

The closest one to me is an hour away, in another military town, and typically they don't give military discounts in military towns because they wouldn't make any money that way. Good idea about the employee discount, I'll try to find someone.

In the end, I'll have spent $500 on the receiver and about $750 on the speakers. I just want to get a good receiver because it's a lot more expensive to upgrade the receiver than to buy a few new speakers. My stacks are good to me, so I only need a few more speakers. The receiver I have now sucks, and I don't want to have high expectations and get let down after spending $500 on a receiver.

Sorry to bug you. Just wanted to put it out there. My last set of speakers were in use for 20 years. I still have them, and I am the original owner. My current receiver is 3 years old. It is out-of-date. My 3 year old speakers are just getting settled-in. I added an amp to help power them after the first year.

Thanks for the input....I just don't want to spend so much money and not be satisfied...but I know when it comes to home stereo, it's possible to not get exactly what you think you're getting. I'll make sure to let you guys know what I end up with, and post pics once my house is built and we're all settled in.

Actully its $313.:D You can find it online for around $350-400.

As for the ratings. The 1015 on the website and in-store is rated at 120w @.2thd X7 but in the manual its 110w @.09thd X7 exactly like the EliteVSX-52TX.

I wish I knew someone that works at Best Buy. Zuke, you have a 1015. What do you think about it? How good(loud, clear) is the surround sound? The lower the THD, the better right? Also, what speakers are you running?

No it's not exactly the same. The Elite is more "honest" about its power rating. While it's not "all channels driven", it's certainly more powerful than the 1015 with a 7.1 setup. A buddy of mine has the Elite and I have the 1015, we compared them.
Um actually Blue the amplifier is EXACTLY the same according to my Pioneer Rep. I manage a car audio shop and like me he is in to home audio as well. Other than a few very minor options the 1015 and the elite 52 are identical. However, the elite model does come with a (2) year warranty.

#1 is open to debate
#2 is the absolute truth. Audio formats come and go. Receiver bells and whistles always change- but a good set of speakers will last as long as a good dog (or longer).

What about the Pioneer VSX-1015TX and this speaker set, with my DCM stacks up front still???
Who knows? That's up to your ears. I'd be more concerned about a Sub and timbre-matching center channel (if it doesn't now) than the DCM's. Put it together and let us know how it sounds. Good luck.

It plays load and clear for a top level budget receiver. Plus it gives you a boat load of options and settings. It replaced and older Pioneer VSX811s which was another nice function filled receiver. I've had/have 2 Yamaha and 1 Denon. I will continue to get Pioneer's when they give you great performance, loads of features and a low price.
I am running a 7.1 Definitive Tech system, see my sig for the models.
