Hi
Im near US/Canada border (Canada side) and looking to purchase a Pioneer VSX 1021. Im sure i've read Pioneers cannot be exported from US to Canada. Is this correct?
If this is the case, would I potentially be able to drive over the border buy one and bring it back, (paying duties of course)

AFAIK, it's just a CSA/UL rating issue that only applies for insurance if the device in question burns down your house or something. I don't foresee any issues either crossing the border with it or having it shipped over.

Some American products carry both CSA and UL ratings anyway so it may not be an issue.

It ships with a tri-lingual manual which mentions Canada, so you should have no problems importing this receiver. Distribution agreements may prohibit retailers from shipping it to you, but I would ask around first. Just went to JR.com and it gave me shipping costs without warning, so you should be fine.

Canadian/US customs does not care what brand of electronics u bring in. TV is a TV to them, CD player is a cd player to them, etc.. Just provide a legit invoice to proove the price of the item. They charge u the appropriate taxes.
