The SC-05 looks to be a potent and powerful piece of equipment.

I saw one in person a week ago, and needless to say, it looks impressive.

Yep, I looked at them, liked them, ordered one and then bought a Denon. My dealer calls me once a week for the past month to tell me that my SC-05 is in.

So are you still going to buy the SC-05? It looks pretty impressive.

I bought one and it is great! It puts out very little heat and at spirited levels sounds very good! The GUI for set up is nice and very user friendly. I have run the advanced MCACC and like all the results I get except, no matter which way you cut it, I prefer the EQ off with my Ascends. The full band phase and standing wave if fine, and it sets the channel levels and distance almost perfect.
The THX Loudness Plus feature is ok, but nothing great. I have a feeling Audyssey's dynamic volume/EQ works better.
The build quality is superior and it is some serious eye candy.

At the moment, I do not use the video portion of this receiver, but I guess it works well and is pretty much bug free from all reports.

If I had $1k or so laying around... I would probably get an SC-05.

Unfortunately, the most I could probably muster and gather would be around $500.

Maybe if I keep looking at one, I would buy one and sell some of my other equipment. (cough, amp, HD-A2, cough).

The SC05/07 to me sounds better than the Denons. I demoed the 05/07 the denon 3808,4308, and the Onkyo 905/906 and the 05/07 was my decision. The sound is very clear and detailed. The iceamps run very cool, no overheating issues here. My soundstage seems very dynamic and midbass sounds very controlled. Overall Im very happy with the end result. I too ran the Auto MCACC and then went in there and manually made some adjustments using my SPL meter. I also ran the Velo SMS-1 and recalibrated the dual subs. Needless to say I ended up with the

The SC07 and it rocks. Worth a listen.

Are you using the Outlaw monoblocks with the SC-07? Thanks.

Jeremy, I noticed your recent post over at AVS. I'm curious if you are looking for a replacement, and if you are, what you might be considering.

You just strike me as the type who really knows what he is doing, so I just have to ask. :D

I am keeping my 805 for now, even if I learned that 24p has elevated blacks. I hear the difference is extremely subtle, and I have to admit the pic is still breathtaking as is.

I'm sure Id be even happier if I didn't visit these boards so much! lol :p

Yes, Im using the outlaws to run my center, surrounds. I have a D-Sonic Magnum 1000S (Icepower) driving my front speakers. This setup I have is incredible and the sound is amazing. I do have my 07 driving my rear surrounds though. I plan to experiment here shortly and put all my speakers on the 07 and see how it performs, however I fear I may end up selling my amps. :D Even as a pre/pro the 05/07 are outstanding performers. I'm coming from the Sony 7100ES in case anyone is wondering. The Sony is now in my living room rig.

No man, if all things are equal- meaning they are set up/calibrated the same then all you should hear is your speakers, not the AVR.

I just wanted one so I could change my name to ICE!
