Well i just wanted to thank everyone for turning me onto the Pioneer elite vsx-94txh i bought this and love it, it is so much better than my Onkyo 605, the sound is nice and warm and it has alot more power, my SVS Mts-01 speakers really like it and sound great, it also does a great job at up scaling to 1080p and watching my Blu-ray in the HD sound formats is great, it automaticaly switches to whatever the disc is recorded in.
And i will not hace to worry about any clipping and smoking another tweeter:eek:
All in all it is a great reciver and will last me for a long time to come.
If anyone else has one of these post and let me know if you like yours and let me know if you have had any probs. Thanks again!

Congrats on your purchase.Thats a major upgrade!!

I had one for a month or so but had to sell it for financial reasons.I really liked it,but I did find it a little overwhelming.I kind of feel that its one of those units that just has too many bells and whistles.I dont think I ever nor would I have ever really used a reciever like this to its full extent.I can say though that I never had a problem with it.It did sound great and its pretty easy on the eyes as well.

Enjoy!!

The VSX92/94 are one of the most underrated receivers in the industry. The video processor is outstanding, the amplifiers are as strong as an ox while running coolly. I takes a $4000 receiver from some brands to get this kind of performance.

The only positive thing I can say about the 605 is that it has good resale value. Otherwise it isn't much of a receiver - lots of features, not much performance. I did a similar upgrade - 605 to VSX-92. I understand your enthusiasm.

I have the 92 and I love it. I have a question. What is your max volume. My receiver only goes up to +2 and in the manual it says +12?

If any channels are boosted past 0, it reduces the overall volume( well it reduces the number as you noticed). The explanation is in the manuel.

Does VSX 92 and 94 have auto multiple channel audio calibration circuitary? If so, how does work and is it easy set up? I would like to consider one of these model and what is their differences between the 92 and 94? Why do you choose the 94 instead of the 92 Thanks,

I have another question. I had the volume up real loud just to see how my speakers could handle it when the sound just went flat. When I cut the volume down the sound returned to normal. Is that the receiver going into protection mode?

Y'all might be a little surprised by our bench test results... I'll try to get the review out next week.

Does anyone else think the remote is among the worst in the industry? It's like someone threw up buttons all over it. Seriously, a "Shift" function...? There are more colors on it than my Christmas tree... lol.

Any sudden change in sound at volume is a very bad thing. This may be the amp clipping which can damage your speakers in a hurry. What speakers do you have?

I have rbh tk-5ct fronts and a svsound PB12-Plus/2. I also have a klipsch center and bookshelf klipsch for rears. It has only done this with music. Lucky so far it has not damaged my speakers. I had it up pretty loud. Also I was playing a sacd surround mix and when I took it to the same volume it didnt do it. Do you think adding a external 5 channel amp will stop it from clipping? I usually dont have it up that loud I just wanted to see what my system could do.

Thx

Driving all channels hard will cause the current limiting circuitry to engage, limiting the output. This is done to protect the output transistors. Clipping can be a byproduct of the current being clamped, and can be hazardous to tweeter health. If you decide you want to listen at length at elevated levels you might want to add a separate power amplifier for at least the front channels, since that will take a big chunk of the drain off the receiver's power supply. If you won't actually be playing the system at that volume, just stick with the receiver itself.

That's what I did. I run the Emo to the 3 main channels and my Yammy powers the surrounds.

You run the amp to the fronts and the suB? How much of a difference in sound quality did it make with and without the amp?

No man, my sub has about a million watt amp built into it. I run the amp to the mains and center. It makes a difference when really playing loud(more headroom). Before I got the amp, I had blown two speakers, after...none.

I just noticed which sub you have. Does it give you a cleaner sound?
