Recently updated my Receiver to the pioneer 94TXH. Had a Yamaha RXV before. Now I have to really crank up the volume control to get decent sound from my Polk LSI 15 speakers. I have used the MCACC to balance and adjust the surround sound but it really doesn't sound as Dynamic and earthshaking as the old system. I bought the new system to use the HDMI facilities on the receiver. Any suggestions

Please check to see if your speakers are set up the way that you want for bass management (as either "large" or "small"). The auto set-up routines will often set up the front speakers as full-range (i.e. "large"), which may or may not be the way that you want them.

Also, when I switched from my older Yamaha to my Pioneer, I went from a receiver that didn't equalize my speakers to one that did. The resulting sound could be described as less dynamic, but I viewed it as less harsh. I always thought that my NHTs sounded overly bright with my Yamaha, and the equalization on the Pioneer was quite pleasing to me. If your Yamaha also had equalizing, then this might not have anything to do with it.

i have the 92
I noticed that before calibrating it with mcccac my volume to go to like -15 (i think, was a while ago) But it didnt sound as good without the calibrating. What I did was first do the calibrating after that then you go and do a manual mccac calibrate. change the speaker settings as needed. you can also cut the volume up of each individual speaker. Once you do this you will be quite pleased.

Which model yahama receiver was it? What are the chanel levels set to, can you output the mcacc settings and take a screen shot?

Re: Pioneer 94TXH

Thanks guys. I had to set the surrounds to small and also the subwoofer volume but now the sound is great!
Love that integration between the Pioneer BD player and the receiver
Thanks for the interest.
My previous Yamaha was an RXV 2500
