Hello

I have a pioneer DV-696AV connected to a pioneer receiver VSX-D510 (no hdmi) which I mainly use for SACD auditioning and the odd dvd disc

This is a rather old setup (dv back from 2006 and vsx from 2001 if I´m not mistaken) but has been serving well over the years and the sound quality from SACD is amazing.

The 5.1 audio analog out of the dv-696 go into the 5.1 analog in of the vsx.

Soon I will be upgrading my also old LOEWE NEMOS crt tv set to a panasonic plasma V series and also add in a media player.

And now I am running into recent specs problem.!

according to the user manual and to pioneerfaq.info

"* It is not possible to listen to SACDs using the HDMI connection of this player."

I see no multi-channel audio analog in on any new reasonably priced mid range pioneer receivers from the 2010 line up

I Would like to avoid looking into other brand and model with 5.1/7.1 audio analog in because am a big fan of pioneer (have been looking into the vsx-920 just to name one) and I would like to maintain use of the dv-696av for sacd on analog with no processing at all, straight from 5.1 to 5.1 just like I have presently

so am I misreading something, what shall I do about this?

thks in advance

Yes, it seems manufacturers across the board seem to have dropped the MC-ins on the lower level units. The Pioneer #19 models still had them.

You may be between a rock and a hardplace here and upgrade your gear.

You can also use component video to the new display if that’s an option on your gear.

Ninogui,

first off, welcome to the forum!

Just for you to know, I still have a DV-696 player and it's a great one indeed, but it's now in my bedroom system though.

IIRC, this player hasn't been widely available in the US (got mine in Chicago, a while back, with dual-voltage and region-free,though).

Really don't recall it by now, but if you can't get SACD audio thru HDMI, is due to the HDMI version though (if memory serves me well, you gotta have v1.2a and maybe the 696 doesn't have it). Anyway a great player indeed :)
