So My receiver just blew as I'm no longer getting any sound out of it.
I guess maybe I left it on too long accidentally or it was just time to go after 10 years. I don't have a lot invested in it so I think this is probably a blessing.
I get to upgrade!

So to my ?.
I will be playing a lot of records through receiver, but I'll be connecting 2 turntables through a mixer so I really don't need to worry about a phono input right? (as long as I plan to continue to use a mixer?)

Also any recommendations? Looking to spend under $500.
Music is my priority, surround sound would be nice, but I don't have cable/satellite and only watch movies through my PS2. Might upgrade this at some point to a real player so HDMI might matter, but I still have a picturetube connected to the PS2 so video is not a priority, although at somepoint in the next 10 years I may upgrade so I'm thinking pay a little bit to have room to grow.

Oh this is my first post.

As long as all turntables will be fed to the mixer first, you don't need a phono input on the receiver.

The mixers output will be fed to a high-level (aux) input on the receiver.

If you are talking about a stereo receiver only, here are some viable contendors:

And as Markw already mentioned. If you go through a mixer, you won't require a phono input.
