Hello everybody. I recently bought a Philips DVP5960 upconverting DVD player. When I first got it I only had component video cables, so I hooked it up with those for video and a digital coax for audio. I orded an HDMI cable in order to use the unconverting features of the player. Well, I just got my HDMI cable yesterday, and hooked it up to my TV. I removed the component cables, and still have the digital coax going into my receiver for audio. After plugging the HDMI in, I have a problem. I no longer get surround sound from my receiver. If I'm playing a movie, and while it's playing unplug the HDMI cable from the back of the DVD player, my receiver instantly switches back to full surround sound! Is this a problem with the DVD player or my receiver? I can't imagine Philips would make it so that you can't have surround sound when using the HDMI output. Has anyone heard of this error?
