Perlisten /HSU subwoofer decisions

Hi All
I'm just putting the finishing touches on my theater room. Total room length with 18" baffle wall is 24' x 17'6" wide x 9' tall
my gear, Anthem AVM 90 ATI AT528NC AT527NC Perlisten S5i x3 LCR, S4i x8 Front wide and surrounds, KEF Ci200RR-THX Atmos x4 Dual Perlisten R210S, Dual HSU VTF-3 MK5 subs

The HSU subs were from my last build and brought them with me before I decided on Perlisten.

WIll the 2 perlistens match/blend well with the HSU? Or will I need to match 4 R210s?

Other option, I was contemplating selling the two R210s and HSU (Perlistens are brand new in box so I would try and sell as new is possible )and adding 4 R212s instead, but maybe the 4 R210s will be more then enough. Anyone have some insight here ?

In order to get those subs to play nice together, I would run the Hsu subs in a sealed mode. They will probably be fine at that point. A 4 x R212 system would be pretty badass though, but very pricey.

Alright. That was the answer I was hoping for. So no need to sell the HSU and go for 4 R210s, am I losing out on some deep base or or detail ?
And yea. I wish I'd opted for the R212s initially. Would have made things much easier to add 2 more rather then try sell the 210s...

As long as the subs are properly calibrated, I doubt you will be losing out on any detail. You will be losing out on deep bass simply for the fact that you have sealed subs. But with two 15"s and four 10"s, you should have enough displacement to compensate for that.

Ok. Great.
But it will only be 4 subs in the room, corner loaded.
Either 2 HSU in the back with 2 R210s
Or 4 perlistens in each corner. Will sell the HSU

You do realize though that by keeping the HSUs you interfere with the push/pull lower distortion bass of the Perlisten subs—which is the major reason to buy the push/pull design. Having all Perlisten push/pull would be best. Or why not also add 2 R212s to your 2 R210s if you can swing it?

Correct, I do realize that which is why I posted the thread asking that question.
I'm looking for alternatives for 2 more subs, either 2 more R210s/212s, or now sealed SVS SB-17 or Paradigm XR-13. The SVS seems to offer the best value with fantastic performance/output. Being from Canada, the $ does play a factor.

Ideally I did want all 4 subs to be the same but it might not be that crucial. Appreciate the feedback

Just posted my R210s for sale. If I can get them sold I'll be going with 4x R212s.
If I can't sell them then I'll either just add 2 more R210s. Or mix 2 R212s with 2 R210s. Before this promo I was considering adding 2 Svs SB17

This promo is pretty aggressive.
You think it would be fine to blend 212s with 210s?

Same low distortion both sealed should be no problem. I am blending two D215s with a harbottle sealed. They sound great together. Used REW to find best delays, location and phase then let trinnov active EQ do the rest.

Hi All

I have an opportunity to get 2 D15s for almost the same cost of 2 R212s that are on promo/clearance price. Has anyone or @shadyJ compared or tested the D15s, vs the R212s. I did not sell the R210's and ended up just setting them up in my room and absolutely loved them. I didn't get a chance to tweak them yet. I know the advantage of the dual push pull is reducing even order harmonic distortion, and the subs played well and loud and no issues at all. So just wanted to know since the D15s are not a push pull design, would I be missing anything compared to the push pull design. I have read reviews on the D15s and they have all been great, but never auditioned them. So jus wanted to know if its worth spending the extra $$ to get 2 of those instead of the R212s

I would probably stay with push/pull R212. Easier to blend with your R210s plus with two 212s and two 210s you will likely not be lacking in bass in anyway.

I don't think these subs will differ drastcially in sound. It's possible that the D15 will have a bit more deep bass capability since larger diameter drivers tend to have a bit lower resonant frequencies. Either are great subs, so you can't lose going with either of them.

That's what made it difficult to decide as they are both great at what they do. Figured based on the D15s numbers it would dig a bit deeper. Either way I'll be happy as you say.
