PC/TV connect problem

Hello,

I am trying to connect my PC to TV. I have an Averlite PC-TV converter (with Red/Green/Blue o/p to TV). Problem is TV does not have R/G/B input. It has Red/White/Yellow (to which I connected Green input to Yellow and get picture but very poor). The TV has S-Video socket and AV1 and AV2 scarts.
However, I have a DVD/Harddisk box connecting to the TV and this has the Red/Green/Blue sockets.

Can anyone advise the best method, given the above, of doing the PC/TV connect?

BTW: I am a complete muppet at this kind of thing.

Regards,

You have the wrong converter.

I'm not up on what's available in the converter market, but I can tell you what you need to look for when considering purchasing one.

The one you currently have outputs a "component" video signal, which your television can't handle. This is the video signal broken down into three different signals which results in a very high quality picture, but only if your TV can accept them.

You need to find one that outputs either a composite video (yellow plug/jack) or an S-Video (mini DIN) output. Or, you can look for another converter that converts that component video into one of the other two.

As an aside, those "yellow/red/white" plugs on the TV are for composite video and the right/left audio. That S-Video (mini DIN) is for a video signal only. You'll still need to run an audio feed, but that should not be a problem. Simply take it from the earphone jack. Of the two, the S-Video should provide a better picture.

Happy hunting...

Much appreciated

Thanks for that. I suspected that that might be the case.

Sounds like his tv does have component video inputs: "DVD/Harddisk box connecting to the TV and this has the Red/Green/Blue sockets"

It looks like what he needs is an A/V Receiver.
