PC Speaker system hooked to TV

I have an Altec Lansing PC speaker system with subwoofer that works great with my Laptop. I recently bought a LG 32" LCD TV which has a Headphone socket.

When I connected my PC speaker system to the Headphone socket, the TV sound output was pathetic and probably did not work with the subwoofer.

Is there a compatibility issue here? I do want to use the existing system because the sound is just awesome and as good as a Home theater system.

Thanks

TV sound in general is pathetic, the source is just...bad. No comment on the pc system.

connect them to the RCA's on the back of the tv. i have never had a problem doing this. except when the tv has a "fixed" out, and not a "variable" out, like my mitsu :mad::(

with a fixed out, the tv will not control the volume. a variable out will control the volume.

Right like "just some guy" said, if you only have a connection with a mini jack then maybe radio shack has something to go to RCA but not sure. I had to answer on this post as I was just thinking today about my first "Surround Sound" was also a PC set up. It was in a tiny bedroom so it actually worked alright. Prologic was all there was unless you were lucky enough to have a Laserdisk player...lol
