Why rule out the Parasound Halo.... those are fantastic amp with a very low noise floor...

I will certainly recomend the Wyred4Sound....

I really have a great appreciation for what their amps bring to the table, power cleanliness and a low noise floor, something I am more and more learning to appreciate.... but they come at a pretty high cost...

After some deliberation I ruled out sunfire and Parasound Halo. However I did add Wyred 4 sound, Outlaw amplifiers and Parasound 5250. So updated list is

a) Wyred 4 sound MC amp
b) Anthem MCA 50/ A5
c) Outlaw audio 7500

Thoughts?
D-Sonic Magnum amps?

Halo...later score a 21 for a really sweet 7ch rig. Your budget would allow for an Emotiva xpa5 and xpa2 (1600 for both)...that would be very powerful and big bang for buck. Use the xpa2 for mains and you know what to do with the xpa 5ch amp....center, surrounds, extra room, etc.

I'm wondering why you ruled out the Parasounds?

The New Classic Line is awesome, and I think the Halo's are in the same league as more expensive amps like Theta and Krell. I've used an old HCA-2205 for about 8 years, and have no intention of replacing it any time in the next decade. I'm biased, but it's a good amp.

In any case, most amps are pretty neutral if designed well. For me, looking at similar amplifiers in power rating and price, I've always found it useful to also consider their current output as well.

Folks,

I just built a new pair of speakers using Scanspeak woofers and RAAL tweeters. I can no longer power them with my old Denon 80 w receiver. So I am planning to use my denon as a pre/pro and get a new Amp. Ideally I want to spend under $2000 and have been looking at both new and used Amps. I just need 5 channel of output. Here are some what I have shortlisted:
a) Anthem Statement A5 - Could buy used one for around $1800
b) Parasound A51 - Used for around $2500 - Outside my budget but still considering
c) Sunfire TGA-5200 - Discontinued, new in box available for around $1500
d) Sunfire TGR-3: Not really an amp, receiver with 200w / channel. Discontinued, New in box for $1500. This is a mystery to me

Looking for some inputs from folks on this forum
Scoll to page 3 if you want the mothership of all HT Amplifiers. There is nothing like it. If you never had the Cinepro experience you don't know what your'e missing. This is with out a doubt the mothership of all HT amps.
