I bet whoever buys Warner Bros will replace Gunn as head of D/C. They might still let him make Guardians of the Galaxy movies. :D

I hope Netflix doesn't get any studio. They will destroy theater and physical media if they do. Paramount or Universal is fine. I would prefer Universal purchase WB. But I get why Paramount wants to enter the race. Paramount wants to compete in the Superhero race against Disney. I would be a-ok with Gunn being shown the door. Bring in someone who is going to make actual quality DC films.

Get ready — the streaming world just got shaken up. Netflix is set to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery’s film and TV studios and HBO Max in a blockbuster deal valued at roughly $82.7 billion. Wikipedia+1 This means Netflix will soon combine its global reach with Warner’s epic legacy — bringing beloved franchises, blockbuster movies and TV classics under one roof.

But will regulators let it happen? Will the legendary theatrical release windows stay intact, and what will this mean for the future of streaming and the film industry?

Netflix won't be owning anything. The deal will not go through. Netflix will lie as much as possible to try and seem like they care about theatrical and physical media, but we all know they won't. Their CEO is a snake. Paramount will end up getting WB. Which will be the correct move.

In any other administration, you'd probably be correct, but with Netflix's upcoming bribe "donation" to the sitting potus I guarantee you it will be approved.

From what I've seen or heard, nobody is in favor of WB going to Netflix. Almost every single theater chain would sue Netflix, Actors/Directors Guilds would all sue them as well. Christopher Nolan is the head of one such group that has said they will take legal action against Netflix if said deal goes through. Theater Chains would not sit back and lose billions because Netflix won't keep a movie longer than 2 weeks in a theater. Plus, there would be monopoly issues if the deal were to happen. The idiot "Zazzy" running WB has got to be the worst President/CEO of any company. He's a moron and I can't wait for him to be out of the picture.

Paramount/Skydance Media has offered $108B for the entire WB package. Most will be paid in cash. None of the other companies can touch that. No person in their right mind would turn that down. Plus, once the pendulum swings back to Paramount and WB calls off Netflix deal, Netflix will have to pay WB $5B to walk away. Not a bad way to make an easy $5B. :)

Just to be clear. I meant whoever buys WB, it will be approved. Either Netflix raises its offer or Paramount. Monopoly issues won't be even remotely considered. No matter who buys it, in the end, media consolidation won't be good for consumers. While it could probably and likely cross-pollinate various IPs and major characters, it will still end up being less choice and less quality content.

Elision has made concessions to Trump as well and with the hostile takeover bid, shareholders might have the final say.
