Agreed, you bought the other gear from there correct? If they take 100 bucks off, it's a buy.

My Texas dealer wanted 900. I got it for 600 but that's a long story and involved someone going to the ER.

First post. I actually joined because of this thread. I'm in the same boat as Dan and my Paradigm dealer also recommended the Millenia 20 as a center channel for Studio 20 V3 fronts. He also recommend the Martin Logan Dynamo sub, and Paradigms literature specifically states Millenia's are designed to be used with a subwoofer. Would this make "THE" difference?
I'm very disappointed to hear this combination won't work.

Hey Matt. Welcome to the forum.

Well, the reason that the Millenia center won't work is because it is an entirely different cabinet design than the Studios...and different speakers I believe. As such, their timbre will be different than Studios.

If what you mean by "THE" difference is adequate bass, yes. A good sub will give you that. If what you mean by "THE" difference is will a millenia center work with Studio mains, then no, it won't work because of timbre differences. Hope that helps. :)

yes Matt..I have a sub as well....still did not like the sound of the mill 20...not a good match..far too thin a sound compared to the richness of the system over all. I actually spoke to my dealer today...he told me the millenia series is a very..'inefficient' speaker sytem..i delved no further since i returned mine anyway...the cc 190 is holding its own, but still not out of the ordinary, just kinda tags along.., a bit hollow in my opinion...the guys here have been carefully nudging me towards the 590 or 690..lol...we'll see.

Martin Logan Dynamo sub
Matt,

Just for your information. That is a good subwoofer. If your in a small to small/medium room you will get good performance from the Dynamo.

There are a few subs in the $599 range that give excellent performance.

I sure appreciate the advice. That could have been an expensive mistake.

Thanks,

Matt

Dan, still looking at the 590 and 690 are you? You might as well go get the 590. Yeah I'm saying the smaller of the two but it'll fit a little easier and you wont regret it. See if your dealer will let you home demo one to see how it sounds. If you love it go for it.

yes, like i say..i heard the 590 at the shop and the depth of it was incredible. The 690 is way too big for my home setup, and the 590 is too big as well, but damn, im just gonna have to make room if i decide to go for it!!..maybe just a little more nudging from you guys eh!!..lol....what i see i should have mentioned and was remiss, is that my studio 60's are about 8 years old...making them an early version...will this imapct the meshing of a new cc??..the 590 per se'?..thats why i went with the 190..thinking they may have same technology by this point. Your input here would be appcted.

Yes, unfortunately it will make a difference. Paradigm went through a major overhaul of the studio series last year. They took a few things from the Signature line and added it to the Studio line. The difference between the Studio v.4's and the Studio v.3's is fairly significant.

Thats not to say adding the CC-590 wont mesh, In fact, I think it would mesh well regardless. The matching centre from 8 years ago would not hold a candle to the CC-590, so I wouldn't worry.

Paradigm does move technology down through their series' as they come up with new stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if your 190 has the same tech as your older 60's. That's not to say that the 590 wouldn't mesh well, it will probably mesh very well.

You could always look around online and see if you can find a matching center that's the same version as your 60's if you don't like the sound. For what it's worth, I would stick with either the 190 or the new 590.

Good buy danoo1. I have the 570 with my studios and I love it. I don't think you'll be unimpressed as the 590 had a couple of minor improvements over the 570. Enjoy!

Doesn't get any better then that. Some how things always seem to work out in the end, just takes longer sometimes.

We need pics and your opinion when it gets there.
