i'm adding the DALI MENTOR 8/6 and MONITOR AUDIO GX 200 to the list of possible speaKERS. hoW ARE DALI speaker speakers in comparison

I think those speakers from Denmark (DALI & Dynaudio) sound pretty good. Also the speakers from Finland (Amphion) & France (Focal).

I've never listened to Monitor Audio (England), but I heard they sound good too.

I think I need something from Finland (Amphion) & Germany & Italy.

There are so many good speakers out there.

Both Paradigm and Kef make fantastic speakers. This will be something you will have to audition each of to find your tastes, remember you can add subs later on.
When shopping for my S8s I ended up listening to the deftech BP7000s and really did enjoy them. However the Paradigms portrayed a more accurate soundstage (easier to localize instruments, rather than big and kinda messy) when compared to deftechs. I've not heard the studio series from Paradigm however I've seen stereophile hold them in pretty high regards (if thats worth anything).
I highly suggest you take your time and audition at a few places. Being objective will get you started, measurements won't make you fall in love with a speaker.

You're talking about the imaging, not soundstage.

I've been to chamber music, concertos, & symphonies, and I think "imaging" is overrated. Dennis Murphy also thinks imaging is overrated, and he has been to more symphonies than most of us combined.

I used to own the DefTech BP7000SC & BP7001SC, and I thought they imaged just fine in my room & setup compared to the Salon2, B&W 800D, KEF 201/2, & Linkwitz Orion.

This might deserve it's own thread, but I thought I might ask in here anyways.

I want to build a 2.1 setup for MUSIC listening. I listen to primarily metal, rock, and some electronic music. So powerful... warm?.. bass is a primary concern as is the ability to listen at high volume levels without being fatiguing or harsh in the upper ranges. Thoughts on using a set of KEF Q900s pair with an SVS 12" subwoofer?

Listen to the q900 without a sub first...ut does have more bass then the other speakers in the kef range

Using Q900 + SVS 12" subs would be great and much better than using the Q900 alone.
