Paradigm studio 100 vs. Paradigm Esprit vs. equievalent Klipsch

Title says it all.. I want them for a medium size bedroom and they are all towers.. I don't need a sub with them right? How are towers comparing to bookshelfs? I am using Sony str db 830 QS as a reciever and speakers are intended for rock music only (who wants to watch movies in a bedroom?) Id like Paradigm or Klipsch in the price range of Paradigms.. Thanks for your help!

The Esprit really aren't towers to start with. As far as an equivalent Klipsch speaker look at the RF series since that's what more going to match the Studio series from Paradigm. I say go with the 100's but that's just me and I don't really like Klipsch. As for whether you are going to need a sub or not, well that depends on how much bass you like. I would think that for just music the 100's would be able to go plenty low but you may want more bass. Only way to find out, try it and see.

Given the music mentioned, unless you listen to stuff with a lot of low synth, you don't need a sub.

With my M80s (similar frequency response to the 100) I have switched back and forth between two channel and 5.1 while listening to music. A lot of times I can't tell the difference at the bottom end.

On cds like the ELP debut album where there is quite a bit of low bass synth and organ, I do notice a difference.
