Paradigm Signature S8's for music Or Paradigm Studio HT setup?

The S6's are slightly less efficient (89 vs. 90 db/ 1w). Would they be okay given the room size (16' x 17' w/ 10' ceiling and open kitchen behind listening position)?

..Also, when you say "great deals", can you give me an example? ..I tend to prefer buying locally (if buying new), but I'm curious to know the extent to which these are being discounted.

Thx!
I highly doubt that 1 db difference in efficiency will be making a difference whether they will be enough in that large room... They should be more then adequate, especially if your driving them with a good external amp, like you were planning.

1dB in sensitivity won't make much difference at all, especially with them crossed over with a decent sub.

Have you tryed listening to the sigs or studios ? Because no matter what others say that should be your deciding factor, Demo movies and music. I personaly own the Studios and could'nt be happier but everyones different. Do what makes your ears happy and then your wallet second:D

thx for your reply..

Yes, I've listened to both for extended periods of time. The Studios are undoubtedly very good speakers and - invoking the law of diminishing returns which applies perfectly to audio gear - they are certainly a better deal than the Signatures. That said, the Signatures do sound better to my ears. They extend deeper, are smoother, and can play quite a bit louder without sounding congested - which is important given the size of room I'll be using them in. ..So it's not an easy decision: do I go with an all-Studio 5.1 system, or buy the S8's to feed my 2-channel music fixation?

Your welcome and if I may I'd suggest getting the Sigs because if you dont in my oppinion you wont be happy because you'll always wish you did, just because you've decided that they do sound better. I'd take a gamble on being able to talk the wife into getting matching speakers down the road and maybe use the ole im sorry honey these just arent working wright without the rears and center like they were made for :D I cant compare the sigs to my studios because I never listened to them because I wanted the full setup and didnt want to have to wait another year or so to match and thats why I didnt listen to them because I was afraid I wouldnt be happy with the studios lol although to this day im still so happy I got the full setup and it makes my movies and music so enjoyable I've never enjoyed movies and music before so much in my life and if I had the chance to do it again I'd choose the same setup.. One thing I can say is I think if you do end up going with the studios full setup you'll still be in the higher end of the food chain:p compared to many others. I know I wasnt probably much help but just trying to look on both positives sides of the coin for you :)

Also you might consider the studio 100's just because it might be a little closer comparison simply because not only are you comparing the studio 60 to Paradigms top model but the 60's only has one mid and one base driver compared to the S8 That has 4 base drivers . Just a thought;) Maybe you'll be able to swing the full setup with the 100's and the sound your looking for, I think there only around 600 more for the pair and you'll still be saving vs the s8 and get your full HT SETUP.

Disregard if you already were comparing/Listening to the 100's vs S8 :p
